Site Update – March 20, 2020:
The active injection phase of the In-Situ Chemical Injection (ISCO) treatment is complete, and the associated injection equipment and materials have been removed from the site. Approximately 350,000 pounds of potassium permanganate, used to break down contaminants into harmless compounds, was injected or emplaced at the 76 planned locations.
The injected potassium permanganate is expected to take three to five years to reduce TCE in groundwater to meet EPA’s cleanup objective. CTS will continue groundwater monitoring and reporting to EPA until the cleanup objective is achieved.
