Site Update – August 4, 2023:
An additional, or ‘polishing’, In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) treatment event for groundwater in the northern portion of the site will be performed in August 2023. Potassium permanganate, used to break down contaminants into harmless compounds, will be emplaced at 12 of the 76 existing injection well locations used for the ISCO treatment event completed in 2020.
Mobilization of equipment and materials will occur over the next two weeks, and the ISCO polishing treatment event is anticipated to begin the week of August 14, 2023. The field work for the ISCO polishing event is anticipated to be completed within 3 weeks. Semi-annual groundwater monitoring will continue to be performed to evaluate the effectiveness of the ISCO treatment process.
